Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 10yo OB 43% 1980s Circulation
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
As expected from Laphroaig's short label, there are no complaints regarding the sherry character. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 10yo OB 43% 1980s Circulation The aroma features noble old sherry, violets' florals, berry jam, grape juice, faint mirin sauce, bitter chocolate, caramelized nuts, strong peat with iodine, damp leafy earthiness, oil, leather, rich, seductive and intoxicating. The palate starts with a smooth, viscous mouthfeel, expanding powerfully with noble sherry, grape juice, bouquet garni, rich sweetness, seaweed or seafood dashi, intense umami that lingers on the tongue, earthy leaf mold and leather, strong iodine and tar-infused peat, with a long, seductive, intoxicating finish. [Excellent] This is the official 10-year-old Laphroaig from the 1980s, known as the short label. During this period, Laphroaig had a strong sherry character, and this bottle also clearly exhibits noble sherry notes. Elements reminiscent of old sherry such as violets, grape juice, and berry jam are abundant, along with earthy leaf mold and leather, making it highly complex. The iodine-infused peat is also assertive and powerful. The flavor is rich, aromatic, and not at all diluted with water. As with the aroma, the noble sherry character and its associated diverse elements were well-developed. Compared to the aroma, there was a slightly stronger herbal and seafood dashi-like quality, as well as more pronounced tar. However, it remained complex, seductive, and allowed for a deep enjoyment of its strong intoxicating finish. Indeed, this bottle could be considered one of the pinnacles of sherry-aged Laphroaig, with no complaints about its condition or quality. This bottle was received as a gift for the 8th anniversary of Walku Hall in Kodama, Tachikawa. #Laphroaig (LAPHROAIG)
