GlenGrant 10 Year GM Distillery Label Circulation in the 1960s
Bottle #グレングラント(GLENGRANT)
An astonishingly intoxicating sensation that left me dazed.
GlenGrant GLENGRANT 10yo GM Distillery Labels 40% Circulation in the 1960s
The aroma is mysteriously seductive, with an incredible intoxicating quality, dripping grape juice, strawberry-containing berry jam, the woodiness of antique furniture, leather, faint decaying leaves, herbs, with old peat in the background, rich, and upon drinking it expands from a smooth mouthfeel into an aromatic complexity of strawberry and grape juice sweetness, a strong but pleasant woodiness, faint hinoki (Japanese cypress), tannic grape skins, the umami of barley from the depths, herbs, old peat containing tar, and a rich, intoxicatingly long finish.

The GM GlenGrant 10 Year appears to be a bottle from the 1960s.
A bottle with thistles adorning its label, just the sight of which elevates my mood.
From the very beginning, the aroma is seductively intoxicating, surprising in its intensity.
The remarkably noble sherry character is strongly present with a pronounced fruitiness of grape juice and berry jam, deep woodiness reminiscent of antique furniture, leather, decaying leaves, and old peat, all perfectly aligning with my personal preferences.
Upon tasting, it has an incredibly smooth mouthfeel, yet the rich complexity and breadth of flavor are far beyond what one would expect from a 40% ABV whisky. The strong fruitiness of juice and its sweetness, along with the wonderful woodiness and tannic quality reminiscent of grape skins, deepen the flavor profile, supported by old peat throughout.
And the intoxicating finish lingers as a transcendent moment for an extended time. How blissful.
This year's Grant with an 'over 10 years' designation shares many similarities with this old sherry cask Grant, which was my favorite aroma.
Trying to concisely write a tasting note is difficult as every aspect of its aroma is so captivating...
