Laphroaig 11 Year Old Official Islay Whisky Festival 2003

Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 11yo OB Islay Whisky Festival 2003 40%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
With an official-like peat, there was a fruity character reminiscent of HighGrove. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 11yo OB Islay Whisky Festival 2003 40% Aroma of grapefruit peel, white flowers, soft wheat with a pleasant sweetness, mineral-like seaweed, sea breeze, official-like thickness of peat, rounded peat. Upon drinking, it expands from a light and smooth mouthfeel reminiscent of water addition, with slightly condensed and powdery texture, a moist gentle sweetness and good acidity, saltiness present, solid peat with iodine, dashi-like umami. The body is light but has a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This Laphroaig was released for the Islay Festival in 2003, an official 11-year-old. Calculating backwards, it would be distilled around 1991-1992. There is a fruity character reminiscent of HighGrove, typical of official bottlings. Elements such as the condensed texture and grapefruit peel are clearly felt, while also feeling the official-like iodine peat. At 40%, it's undeniably light, but due to the presence of iodine, there is a certain thickness and an impressively long finish. This bottle was kindly provided by Bar Caruso in Shinjuku.
