The aroma has a pleasant old-world feel and a delightful intoxicating sensation, with fruits like gentle peach and muscat, a pleasant mature barley note, and a faint peat.
When drinking, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel that feels like it's seeping into the tongue, with textures of peach and grapefruit pulp, a pleasant gentle barley note, and a delicate, ethereal finish with a fruity aftertaste.
[Good/Very Good]
This is the official duty-free bottle of GlenDronach 12 Year Old that circulated in the 70s.
It has a distinctive fruitiness typical of this era's Dronach, with notes of peach and muscat in the aroma, and a flavor reminiscent of grapefruit pulp when drinking.
I think I'm somewhat sensitive to the nuance of grapefruit pulp, but I tend to feel it more strongly in the Dumpy 8 Year Old. In contrast, this 12 Year Old has a full array of other fruits.
There are almost no signs of deterioration, with a pleasant texture that feels like it's seeping into the tongue and an ethereal, delicate finish.
While the fruitiness is particularly notable, I think this aroma would be typical of a whisky that has likely passed its peak and is now on the decline.
Because of this, I felt I could savor its beauty.
