This is undoubtedly a classic that never fails to deliver.
Glenlivet GLENLIVET 12yo OB 43%
Circulated in the 1980s
The aroma is a good old, with aged sherry and rustic barley notes, dried orange, honey, and a faint old peat from the depths. Upon drinking, it has a soft mouthfeel, with orange peel and the rustic umami of barley on the tongue, gentle sweetness, and a lingering faint peat finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This Glenlivet 12 Year Old is an official bottling with the 'Ambre' notation, circulated in the 1980s.
As with this bottle and the previous one with the red pearl label, there's a nostalgic old-world feel that makes you feel like you're drinking from a bygone era, which is very impressive.
Occasionally, I come across bottles that are too dry, but this one was just right.
Within the overall good old-world feel, there are aged sherry notes, orange peel, and rustic barley umami that seep into the tongue.
Finally, as if expected, a peaty finish reminiscent of old Speyside follows, making it very enjoyable.
