Glenesk 12 Year Old Official Bottle Circulated in the 1980s

Glenesk GLENESK 12yo OB 40% Circulated in the 1980s
Bottle #グレネスク(GLENESK)
This bottle had very little of the rare or special flavor. Glenesk GLENESK 12yo OB 40% Circulated in the 1980s The aroma has a pleasant old-world feel, with notes of ripe grapefruit, floral scents, and a slightly damp, rustic barley character reminiscent of grass after rain. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with a subtle barley umami that lingers, a light sweetness like diluted honey, and a hint of grassy bitterness in the finish. [Good/Very Good] This is an official bottle of Glenesk 12 Year Old, believed to have been circulated in the 1980s. The first impression of the aroma is that of a bottle that has started to age, but there are also notes of ripe citrus and flowers, along with a rustic barley character and a stronger damp grassiness typical of older whiskies. The palate has a slightly refined mouthfeel, but it still carries the old-world depth of barley umami and gentle sweetness. Similar to the aroma, there is a subtle grassy bitterness in the finish. Overall, it left a clean impression. Glenesk is not a distillery I have had the chance to try many varieties from, but including this bottle, it has a unique, somewhat cat-urine-like nuance that feels distinctive. In this particular bottle, there was a hint of such a nuance, but it wasn't overwhelming.
