The aroma has a pleasant old-aged character, refined sherry, dry orange with premium chocolate, black sugar, leather, slightly earthy, and a smoky depth from the back.
When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel, expanding into a pleasant sherry sensation, blackberry jam, rich sweetness, and a subtle tannic finish with leather and smoke. The long-lasting sherry notes are very pleasant.
【Very Good】
The 1990s-circulated Highland Park 12 Year Old Official Bottle.
It features a label that appeared after the silk-screen printing, which might make one think it's relatively recent, but in fact, about 20 years have passed since bottling.
Already showing a pleasant aged character, the refined sherry notes from in-bottle aging beautifully envelop the entire profile.
When drinking, the sherry sensation wraps around the palate comfortably, with a good balance of sweetness and tannins, leaving a subtle sense of intoxication.
Elements like leather and earthiness, which I could perceive both in aroma and flavor, seem to have become more pronounced through bottle aging.
This is a bottle I've enjoyed multiple times before, usually with sherry influence, but this particular batch has a particularly strong sherry character, making me realize how the flavor varies by batch.
While condition differences may play a role, this level of sherry intensity doesn't seem to develop further in the bottle, suggesting it's more about batch variation.
This is a very personal flavor profile, and if this label always delivers such taste, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it even if it's slightly expensive.
