It had a good old sherry character. Which distillery is it from? Glenavon GLENAVON 12yo GM 40% Circulated in the 1980s The aroma had a good old sherry, plum and apricot jam, black tea, custard, caramel sauce, pudding, a faint woody character like antique furniture, gentle grain notes. Upon drinking, it had a soft mouthfeel, similar to the aroma with sweet and sour fruit jam, a rich gentle sweetness, and the young grain flavor gradually became stronger from the middle to the finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a Glenavon 12 Year Old GM believed to have been circulated in the 1980s. The distillery is unknown, but it is said to possibly be from Farclas or Macallan. The aroma had a strong sherry character often found in GM's old sherries, with notes of jam and black tea. Combined with the caramel and custard-like qualities, it gave a pudding-like impression. Due to its relatively short maturation period, the grain character did not get overshadowed by the sherry. When drinking it, in addition to the old sherry elements similar to the aroma, the grain character, likely rounded by aging, gradually became stronger with a savory flavor. It had a rustic finish and gave me the impression of being more like Farclas.
