New Release: Springbank 13 Year Old Official 'Green'
Bottle #スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
The sherried character is in the direction that recent Bank has been struggling with, but when you drink it, it's surprisingly delicious.
Springbank SPRINGBANK 13yo OB 'GREEN' 46%
The aroma has recent sherries, dashi (Japanese soup stock), sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, plums, young barley notes, slightly meaty with some peat and rich.
When you drink it, the mouthfeel is gentle, with a viscous texture, sweet plum jam flavor, dashi-like notes similar to the aroma, young barley character, and peat coming from the back with a rich finish. [Good]
The new release of Springbank, an official organic malt 'Green' aged for 13 years.
Although there is no mention, it seems different from the previous one and is mainly sherry cask.
Regardless of whether it's organic or not, this Springbank has a strong sherried character. It has a dashi-like soy sauce flavor reminiscent of men'yu (a Japanese soup stock), which sometimes appears in recent Bank and Longrow, and this is a strong type. At first impression of the aroma, it was a type I found difficult.
However, when drinking it, the unpleasant nuances felt in the aroma were not so noticeable. It was a Springbank with jam-like sweetness and peatiness.
Note that while some youthfulness remains centered around the barley character, it seems masked by the sherried character.
If comparing with the same Green, I clearly prefer the previous one with a lighter color. However, this one is rich and has drinkability, so it seems like a bottle that would be accepted by those who like this sherried malt.
