Bottle #ブルイックラディ(BRUICHLADDICH)
The old-fashioned feel was strong, but the apple-like aroma was pleasant.
Bruichladdich BRUICHLADDICH 17yo DUTHIE 40%
80s
The aroma has a strong old-fashioned feel, with baked apples, apricot jam, and Calvados nuances that become more pronounced over time. It has a rustic barley note. On the palate, it is smooth with baked apples, light cinnamon, concentrated black tea, and a sweet, honey-like richness. There is also a subtle woody and plant stem bitterness.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a Bruichladdich 17 Year Old Duthie believed to have circulated in the 80s.
It is a relatively old-fashioned type, but it clearly has the apple-like character typical of older Bruichladdich. In particular, the Calvados-like nuances in the aroma were a pleasant surprise.
Even when drinking it, the old-fashioned feel is strong and there are some slightly bitter notes, but there's also a rich, apple pie-like sweetness that makes it a delicious old bottle.
I don't mind the hine much and actually enjoy the old-fashioned feel quite a bit, so I find it pleasant to occasionally drink something with this slightly stronger old-fashioned character.
