GlenDronach GLENDRONACH 18yo OB for JAPAN 43% 1980s Circulation
The aroma is rich old sherry, a heavy, jammy plum, balsamic vinegar, herbal coffee liqueur, black sugar, leather, and a faint earthy leaf mold.
When drinking, it expands from a smooth mouthfeel with the same rich sherry and diverse fruity notes as the aroma, including grape skins, a thick-sweetness from herbal liqueur, a pleasant tannic bitterness of grape skins, and a long finish with subtle peat and earthiness.
【Very Good】
This is the official GlenDronach 18-year-old in a clear bottle, circulated in the 1980s.
From the aroma, the strong nuance of rich and heavy old sherry is immediately noticeable, along with a concentrated fruity sensation like jam, balsamic vinegar, and notes of leather and earthiness.
When drinking, the rich sherry nuance remains dominant, but the thick-sweetness of concentrated fruits is skillfully balanced by the tannic bitterness of grape skins and herbal liqueur, creating a deep flavor profile. The presence of earthy nuances and subtle peat was also appreciated.
While the dumpy bottle of GlenDronach evokes expectations of grapefruit cotton or muscat-like nuances, these are somewhat overshadowed by the sherry, making them unclear. However, it was a bottle that allowed full enjoyment of the rich old sherry's charm.
The thick sweetness and its balanced tannic bitterness were pleasant, and with the addition of water, there was no harshness, making it very easy to drink.
A persuasive GlenDronach with old sherry characteristics.
