A seductive and intoxicating old sherry, almost melting in the mouth.
GlenGrant GLENGRANT 1958 OVER 10 YEARS OB 45%
The aroma is a strong, intoxicating sherry with seductive notes of ripe plums, American cherries, strawberry berry jam, grape juice, caramel, American coffee, tea, leather, antique furniture woodiness, slightly earthy, rich and extremely complex. Upon drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands intensely with the sherry's intoxication, berry jam, rich sweetness, gentle astringency, richness, herbs, leather, slightly decaying leaves, old wooden characteristics, and a moist peat finish. The long, seductive and intoxicating aftertaste lingers.

The official GlenGrant 1958, labeled as over 10 years old, likely bottled in the 1960s. From the start, I was overwhelmed by the noble aroma of a seductive old sherry. It contains an incredibly diverse range of fruits including berries and grape juice, along with tea, leather, antique furniture-like woodiness, and earthy notes. It is extremely complex, with aromas continuously emerging.
When tasted, it begins with a smooth mouthfeel that spreads richly and powerfully throughout the mouth. As with the aroma, diverse flavors such as fruits, leather, decaying leaves, woodiness, and herbs emerge sequentially. The peaty sensation underlying the entire profile was also very impressive. The balance between rich sweetness and good astringency is flawless, allowing me to savor the seductive intoxication from start to finish of the long aftertaste.
As described above, this is an extraordinary sherry character that intoxicates. However, it does not feel like the entire profile is dominated by force; rather, complex elements continue to emerge, including components that seem to have developed through aging.
The tasting was enjoyable, and I found myself wanting to continue it endlessly. At the same time, while nosing, I was immediately compelled to take a sip—an extremely charming and rare malt.
In this era of Grant, I occasionally encounter similarly directed excellent sherry cask malts, but this one particularly stood out as exceptional and left a lasting impression.
