Benromach 1965 14 Year Old GM Connoisseur's Choice 40%
Bottle #ベンローマック(BENROMACH)
The aroma fully conveys the charm of an old whisky.
Benromach BENROMACH 1965 14yo GM CONNOISSEUR'S CHOICE 40%
The aroma features apricot jam, orange marmalade, dried persimmon, matured caramel, concentrated black tea, and a faint hint of old marzipan. The old-world charm is strong but not off-putting.
When tasted, it has a texture that seeps into the tongue, with gentle jam-like fruits. While there is some lightness, the body remains well-preserved.
[Good/Very Good]
This is a GM Connoisseur's Choice Benromach 1965, featuring the so-called black Connoisseur's label. It was aged for 14 years and bottled around 1979, meaning approximately 38 years have passed since bottling.
As expected, there is a clear sense of age, but the usual 'dried shiitake' like twist is almost absent. Instead, it offers a charming aroma of various concentrated fruits and tea-like nuances.
When tasted, there is some lightness but it's not overly thin; the body remains just barely preserved.
While not extremely diverse, its gentle flavor and texture that seeps into the tongue were pleasant. The taste was not bad, but this old bottle is best enjoyed by slowly savoring its aroma.
