A complex and intoxicating sherry character.
Glenalbyn GLENALBYN 1965 34yo KINGSBURY CELTIC LABEL #3833 49.1%
One of 499 bottles, SHERRY CASK
The aroma is strong sherry, berry jam, raisins and concentrated grape juice, baked apple, herbs, cinnamon, slightly earthy with a leather feel, and in the background there's a smoky barley and old peat.
When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a rich sherry character, good balance of dried fruits and grape juice sweetness with a pleasant herbal liqueur-like astringency, deep woodiness, slightly floral and elegant nuances, and an intoxicating finish.
【Very Good】
This is Glenalbyn 1965, 34 years old from Kingsbury with a Celtic label.
The color is rich, but the strong sherry character is immediately apparent from the start. It doesn't feel like an elegant or noble sherry, rather it's covered in a thick layer of intense sherry. Notes of jam, dried fruits, concentrated grape juice, spices and herbs, leather rush in a torrent. The barley and peat are masked by the sherry but quietly present in the background.
When drinking, the sherry character remains dominant. While I usually expect an indescribable sexy nuance from older Albin's, this bottle didn't show that. However, the thick and deep sherry character was strongly felt, with a good balance of rich sweetness and firm astringency without any cloying qualities.
It transitions directly into the powerful sherry intoxication, making it a forceful Albin.
While I often think of older Albin's as妖艶 (seductive) and feminine, this bottle also has a somewhat feminine image.
However, rather than seductive, it felt like a powerful woman with a sturdy build and a strong direction.
