The aroma is calm yet elegant, with notes of orange tea, a faint milkiness reminiscent of coffee fresh, and a moderate peatiness with an old peat character from the depth. On the palate, it has a smooth and elegant mouthfeel with violets-like perfume, sweet and sour notes reminiscent of orange juice, and peatiness from the depth. The perfume lingers briefly before fading.
[Good/Very Good]
This is an official bottling of Glen Garioch 1970, aged for 21 years. While vintage bottles from this era often exhibit a desirable Highland peatiness and earthy depth, as seen in the Samarro series from 1971, this bottle also carries such characteristics. However, the main profile here is more floral and fruity, with a lightness that contrasts against the unique milky elements reminiscent of Edradour. Additionally, I noticed a perfumy nuance that is typically found in bottles from the late 1970s to early 1980s, but also occasionally in the 1960s and early 1970s. While I'm not particularly fond of perfumy notes, this one is within an acceptable range and presents an interesting personality. By the way, Edradour has recently moved away from perfumy expressions, but previously almost all their bottlings had such characteristics. The unique milky and creamy nuance reminiscent of coffee fresh in this bottle might be related to the perfume aspect. Next time I encounter a perfumy bottling, I'll try tasting it with this kind of awareness.
