The Balmenach has a slightly apple-like, seductive charm.
Balmenach BALMENACH 1971 15yo Moncreiffe 46%
The aroma is slightly seductive, with a Calvados-like apple scent, ripe oranges, a bit of old-world dusty feel, light clay-like earthy and peaty notes, gentle barley tones. Upon drinking, it spreads from a smooth mouthfeel with ripe apples and oranges, a moderate sweetness with some depth, a lustrous nuance. The body is thick and has a slight peatiness with a long finish.
【Very Good】
Moncreiffe's Balmenach 1971, aged for 15 years.
The aroma has an old-world feel with Calvados-like apple notes and ripe orange fruitiness, as well as elements of earth and peat. Overall, it gives a slightly seductive nuance.
When tasted, there is indeed a good apple nuance with a deep and rich flavor. Despite the alcohol content, the body is thick, and the old peatiness feels subtle.
A seductive and charming malt with a flavor that, if blind tasted, would resemble a 1960s Bruichladdich.
