Glenelgin GLENELGIN 1971-1985 SAMAROLI 50%
one of 1200 bottles
The aroma features moist, thick barley, orange oil, apricot jam, dates, dried figs, honey, a subtle damp peat note, and a pleasant old-world character. On the palate, it begins with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into rich honeyed sweetness, balanced by tangy notes of marzipan and apricot jam. The thick barley character delivers a deep umami richness, accompanied by light mint, viscosity, and a heavy-bodied texture that clings to the mouth. The finish is rich, slightly oily, and remarkably long.
【Very Good】
This Glenelgin 1971 was bottled by Samaroli in 1985. Although the ABV is slightly high at 50%, similar to the Fragments of Scotland 1971 bottling. The aroma carries a pleasant old-world character, with bold barley notes and oily viscosity from rich orange and apricot jam nuances. Dried fruits and peat undertones are also present. On the palate, it unfolds with a rich, honeyed sweetness and good acidity from jams, while the thick barley umami is fully enjoyable. It has a viscous, oily texture with a heavy body despite the dilution, and a rich, very long finish. True to Samaroli's 80s bottling style, it retains a solid body without any over-oxidized characteristics, offering a highly convincing and delicious whisky.
