The sherry is well-balanced, allowing for an enjoyable array of aromas. Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1971-2000 28yo OB CHRISTMAS #5959&5960 53.1% One of 543 bottles The aroma is rich in sherry, with notes of ripe plums, orange with bitter chocolate, dried fruits, sweet caramelized nuts, herbs, a touch of earthiness, pronounced woodiness, charred barley, and a hint of mint. Upon drinking, it has a strong attack, expanding into a rich, viscous profile with sweet plum jam and caramel flavors, subtle acidity, a good tannic quality from the woodiness, nuts, richness, herbs, charred barley, and a long finish. 【Very Good】 This is an official bottling of Glenfarclas 1971, aged for 28 years. Two casks were distilled on Christmas Eve in 1971 and bottled as part of this release. In addition to this, there are many other types of Christmas malts from Glenfarclas. While it does not possess noble nuances, it feels like a very good sherry cask from the 1970s, with a diverse range of aromas derived from that. The earthiness and woodiness were also noticeable, and I thought the slightly unrefined character was a bit typical of Glenfarclas. In the mouth, it has a rich expansion with fruity, moderately sweet flavors and acidity, as well as a balanced tannic quality from the woodiness. Although it is a cask strength whisky with depth and thickness, it does not feel harsh, offering a rather pleasant drinking experience. It was not only delicious but also evoked a warm, Christmassy feeling. I obtained this bottle from Fingal in Kagurazaka.
