Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1972 8yo OB 40%
The aroma is a gentle old sherry, caramel and black sugar, chocolate-covered dried orange, with a hint of dry barley at the back. Upon drinking, it starts with a slightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel, expanding into a good old sherry, with a gentle sweetness of some pear, orange marmalade, and a subtle tannic aftertaste. The finish is also pleasant.
【Good/Very Good】
This is an official bottling of Glenfarclas 8 Year Old, with a notation of the 1972 vintage in a tall bottle.
Approximately 35 years have passed since bottling, and although it has an old feel, there are no unpleasant elements. The aroma of the old sherry was good.
When tasted, it has a slightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel, possibly influenced by the bottle aging, and expands more than expected from its alcohol content.
As with the aroma, there is a nuance of old sherry, and the balance between the jam-like sweetness and tannic aftertaste is well done. It was a pleasant experience to enjoy all the way through the finish.
