【Very Good/Excellent】
Bottled by Italian Intertrade in 1988, this Glenlivet 1973 was aged for 14 years. Despite being over 25 years since bottling, there are no signs of deterioration or weakness, and it still remains lively. The sherry notes carry noble nuances, with jammy characteristics, powerful grape-like Armagnac notes, herbs, and other elements that seem to have developed over time, making the nosing experience enjoyable. Upon drinking, it starts with a surprisingly smooth mouthfeel for its near 60% ABV, expanding powerfully with fruity sweetness and a rich, chewy texture of pleasant tannins. The finish is long and highly satisfying.
A wonderful bottle of short-term sherry matured whisky, with noble nuances. There are absolutely no signs of deterioration or the negative 'old' characteristics often associated with aged whiskies. The thick, rich sherry intertwines with the high proof, creating a significant strength that feels stable. It's one of the masterpieces of short-term sherry maturation, an outstanding bottle.
