【Very Good】
From SMWS, GlenGlassaugh 1973, 26-year-old matured.
From the very beginning of the aroma, it left a coarse and powerful impression, giving a feeling of thick barley. The fruitiness was like concentrated apricot, with the strong assertion of black tea and cinnamon also being impressive.
When drinking it, there is a rich expansion with a savory depth of apricot jam sweetness and cinnamon-infused apple pie nuances, similar to the aroma. Indeed, there is a rich barley sensation with plenty of umami, and the body is thick with a long finish.
It feels like a classic malt whisky that emphasizes barley.
When it comes to GlenGlassaugh 1973, the same vintage was intended for Shin'noya & Campbeltown Loch, but I didn't feel the tropical notes as in that one. Also, the grassy characteristics typical of house style weren't strongly felt this time.
I've written about this several times before, but it's truly a distillery that shows many different faces.
