It had a rich sense of maturation. BANFF 1974-2007 32yo DOUGLAS LAING Old Malt Cask 47.8%, one of 272 bottles The aroma was slightly estery with a solid sense of maturation, featuring pear compote, custard cream with banana, tea, and a gentle malt in the background. When tasted, it had a smooth mouthfeel with a rich flavor, sweet banana creaminess and tannins reminiscent of concentrated tea, leaving a pleasant long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is a BANFF 1974, 32-year-old maturation from Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask. The alcohol content naturally dropped below 50%, and although it is an OMC, it was bottled at cask strength. It had a very rich sense of maturation and diverse fruity notes, especially the nuances reminiscent of fruit cake made with banana and pear were appealing. The balance between the smooth sweetness and moderate tannins was well done, remaining fruity even until the end of the finish. Due to its slightly retained alcohol content, it was a different type from the typical long-matured fruity notes with a sense of clarity, which was good.
