The intense aging character was impressive. Glen Scotia GLENSCOTIA 1974-2010 36yo Scotch Malt Sales Distillery Collection 41.8% The aroma features a very strong aging character with notes of pineapple, pear, banana cream, chamomile, and a refined plantiness. Upon drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel, expanding into a creamy fruit cake with pineapple notes. A refined sweetness is felt, along with the subtle tannins of oak that provide a tightening finish. The body is slightly light but leaves a pleasant aftertaste. [Good/Very Good] This is Glen Scotia 1974, a 36-year-old matured whisky from the Distillery Collection by Scotch Malt Sales. The aroma is highly matured, with a diverse estery fruitiness reminiscent of Duncan Taylor and the super long-aged types that were once widely released. The creaminess adds a fruit cake-like quality, and although the alcohol strength is lower, the depth of sweetness and the absence of harsh oakiness contribute to a well-rounded, satisfying dram. This type of malt is no longer commonly available at regular prices, but it's a unique and enjoyable experience when occasionally savored.
