Bottle #グレンリベット(GLENLIVET)
As a recent long-aged whisky, it had a pleasant drinking experience and was quite delicious.
Glenlivet GLENLIVET 1974-2013 39yo BBR #8172 56%
The aroma features orange marmalade, apricot jam, a pronounced woody character, subtle hinoki (cypress), vanilla, nuts, richness, honey. Upon drinking, it gradually reveals spiciness, ripe orange, a sweet and rich honeyed depth, good oak tannins, and a slight astringency from the oak, yet remains rich and satisfying.
[Good/Very Good]
Bottled last year by BBR, this Glenlivet 1974 is a 39-year-old matured whisky. It appears there were only around a dozen bottles allocated to Japan, making it quite rare.
The aroma emphasizes strong woody notes alongside concentrated citrus and jam characteristics, while also conveying vanilla, honey, and nuts, creating an overall rich impression. Upon tasting, it offers a sweet depth of ripe orange and honey, complemented by mild tannins that enhance the flavor complexity. As expected for a long-aged whisky, there was a slight woody astringency, but it felt only slightly perceptible, leading to a rich and satisfying drinking experience. Perhaps because I had imagined something more woody and pronounced, I found it to be rich, smooth, and very pleasant to drink.
