Glen Garioch 1975-1988 12 Year Old Samaroli Fragments of Scotland 'Eastern Highlands'
Bottle #グレンギリー(GLENGARIOCH)
Finally got to drink it. As expected, the 70s Glen Garioch is good.
Glen Garioch GLENGARIOCH 'EASTERN HIGHLAND' 1975-1988 12yo SAMAROLI FRAGMENTS OF SCOTLAND 50%
one of 648 bottles
The aroma has a pleasant old-world feel, with notes of withered lemon and peach, cheese, vanilla, strong straw, and a tar-like earthiness with clay undertones. On the palate, it starts smooth and expands into a rich, lingering texture that seeps into the tongue. There are hints of heated lemon, a pleasant malty sweetness, refined and gentle sweetness, citrus acidity, and a deep, earthy smokiness with tar and clay notes from the old peat. The finish is long-lasting.
【Very Good】
This bottle, labeled 'Eastern Highlands,' comes from the 'Fragments of Scotland' series bottled by Samaroli in 1988. Compared to other whiskies I drank alongside, like Elgin and Highland Park, it had a slightly drier body. However, Samaroli's signature remains: a solid drinking experience. The withered lemon nuance and earthy clay notes, along with the old peat character clearly distinct from island malts, assertively reflect the original Glen Garioch style. Slightly less bold than expected, it felt refined and elegant with a pleasant, lingering sweetness and acidity on the tongue. Since this series included two bottles I had never tried before—this Glen Garioch and Ardbeg—it was a delightful experience to finally taste them.
