Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1977-1993 SAMAROLI 25th ANNIVERSARY 46%, one of 696 bottles
Bottle #グレンファークラス(GLENFARCLAS)
The strong, rich citrus and honey notes were very good. Glenfarclas GLENFARCLAS 1977-1993 SAMAROLI 25th ANNIVERSARY 46% one of 696 bottles The aroma features strong honey, ripe oranges, faint peaches and pears, vanilla, a pleasant damp grain note, with cream, fruit cake, and a subtle smoky peat in the background. Upon drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel and expands into a rich citrus fruit flavor, ripe pineapple and peach, a strong, sweet depth of flavor, with some savory umami notes. It is slightly creamy and leaves a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This bottle is one of the 25th anniversary bottlings by Samaroli in 1993, Glenfarclas 1977. Although the distillery is well known for its sherry cask influence, there was no sherry aroma here. Instead, honey, ripe citrus fruits, and vanilla were prominent notes. The pleasant grainy dampness also left a good impression. When tasted, the mouthfeel is gentle but expands into an aromatic richness. The citrus and honey notes are strong, similar to the aroma, with a deep, sweet flavor that lingers until the end. I think this is an exceptionally high-quality non-sherry Glenfarclas. It's a bit of a textbook example, not particularly unique, so I didn't rate it as Very Good. However, it was close enough to make me consider giving it a Very Good rating. This bottle was kindly gifted by IAN from Mitsukoshi-mae.
