Highland Park 1977 28 Year Old Official La Maison du Whisky 50th Anniversary Bottle
Bottle #ハイランドパーク(HIGHLANDPARK)
As expected from a Maison commemorative bottle. It gave me the feeling of classic plus a bit more.
Highland Park HIGHLANDPARK 1977-2006 28yo OB for La Maison du Whisky's 50th Anniversary #4259 48.5%
The aroma has a good sherry character, not overly concentrated prunes, dry orange and raisins, caramelized nuts, nut cream, American coffee, toasted barley, overly strong black tea, herbs, faint peat and earth, rich.
When drinking, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a fragrant depth, concentrated apple, orange marmalade, viscous texture, fruity and rich sweetness with a subtle tannic note, nuts, gentle peat, rich, long finish.
【Very Good】
This is the official bottling of Highland Park 1977, aged for 28 years, released to commemorate La Maison du Whisky's 50th anniversary.
While not reaching the level of noble sherry, it has a very good 70s sherry cask character. The sherry fruitiness, barley notes, gentle peat as a base, and elements like herbs, spices, and earthy tones are seamlessly combined, making it very complex and rich.
I had a memory of drinking this before, so I looked it up and found that I drank it at the end of 2013.
The tasting notes were almost similar (which is embarrassing if they vary), but I didn't feel the nut cream typical of 1977 last time.
This time, I caught that in the aroma. After drinking it, I didn't feel it as much, but perhaps this vintage has its own unique character.
Drinking it again, it's truly a remarkable Highland Park that embodies the classic plus a bit more as an official bottling for Maison.
