Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
The second type was even more elegant and highlighted its fruity characteristics. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1980 19yo KINGSBURY celtic #62 50.1% one of 126 bottles, bourbon The aroma was elegant and slightly light, with strong peat accompanied by dark grapefruit and its pulp, mild iodine, dry barley, ham melon, light seafood stock. Upon drinking, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel and expands into a richly aromatic flavor, with a condensed, powdery texture. It has strong citrus notes like grapefruit, powdered cheese, ham melon, peat without a charcoal-like quality, intense sweetness and citrus acidity, pleasant brininess, slightly oily nuances that linger in the mouth, and a balanced fruity-peaty finish. 【Very Good/Excellent】 This is Laphroaig 1980, 19-year-old from the Kingsbary Celtic series, cask number #62. It was released as part of Campbelltown Loch's 15th anniversary commemorative bottle. Following the previous #61, this is #62. The release order was different, with fewer bottles of this one. The aroma is quite elegant, even feeling light for a Laphroaig. It strongly exhibits the fruity characteristics typical of refill cask Laphroaigs, with a soft pulpiness and citrus notes reminiscent of Bowmore. There were also nuances like ham melon, exactly the kind of fruity profile one would expect from an 80s Laphroaig. The peat is assertive and strong, but the fruity elements take precedence. Upon tasting, it has a softer mouthfeel than its alcohol content suggests, with an aromatic and rich expansion. The fruitiness is very prominent, giving a sensation of chewy, powdery condensation that lingers in the mouth with an oily texture. The peat is strong, but lacks a charcoal-like quality, remaining in the background without overpowering the fruity notes. It was very delicious. As a sister cask, it shares many similarities with #61. However, personally, the standout fruity notes and the peat without charcoal-like qualities were impressive, making #62 my preferred choice. I was very satisfied with this Laphroaig that met my preferences.
