Laphroaig 1980 21 Year Old Kingsbary Celtic #61

#ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
The first type was a fruity Laphroaig. LAPHROAIG 1980 21yo KINGSBARY CELTIC #61 48.8%, one of 229 bottles, barrel. The aroma features concentrated grapefruit and citrus notes like its pulp, plum, a bread-like maltiness, katsuobushi dashi (a Japanese fish stock), nuts, and peat with a slightly moist nuance. On the palate, it starts smooth and expands into a rich, concentrated citrus and malt sweetness, with a dense apricot jam-like sweetness, seafood dashi, and strong smoky peat. The finish is long. [Very Good] This Laphroaig 1980, aged for 21 years in cask number #61, comes from the Celtic series by Kingsbary. It was released as a bottle for the 15th anniversary of Campbelltown Loch's Yurakucho. It is said that there are two types of Laphroaig 1980 in the Kingsbary Celtic series, and this is #61. The aroma clearly delivers the concentrated grapefruit pulp-like fruitiness expected from an 80s Laphroaig, along with a solid bread-like maltiness. The typical Islay seafood dashi and strong peat were also noticeable. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel that expands into a rich, concentrated fruitiness, and the malt sweetness was also impressive. Unexpectedly, a jam-like richness was also detected. The peat had not only iodine but also a strong smoky flavor from charcoal, leaving a long fruity and peaty finish. Overall, it felt like a Laphroaig with the expected fruity character from the 80s, but also with a touch of viscosity, sweetness, and charcoal-like smokiness. This time, in Yurakucho, the entire Celtic series was opened at once. There were many wonderful bottles, and it was a very good experience. Congratulations on the 15th anniversary! It's quite impressive to see them all lined up. Note: All of them were sold out within a week... #Laphroaig (LAPHROAIG)
