Recent Release: Pulteney 1980 33 Year Old Malts of Scotland Angel's Choice #Mos13066
Bottle #プルトニー(PULTENEY)
It was interesting to try this Pulteney from the 1980s, which has a different character than those from the 1990s.
Pulteney PULTENEY 1980-2013 33yo Malts of Scotland Angel's choice #Mos13066 45.8% 35cl, one of 98 bottles, Bourbon Barrel
The aroma features ripe oranges, oil, tree resin, matured good oak, honey, butter scotch, a gentle maltiness from the depths, rich, with a smooth mouthfeel upon drinking, a marmalade-like sweet richness, slightly briny, oil, and a gentle malty umami, with a long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
From the Angel's Choice series of Malts of Scotland, this is a half-bottle of Pulteney 1980, aged for 33 years.
A rich bottle with the oily and slightly briny characteristics typical of Pulteney.
When it comes to Pulteney, there are many delicious expressions from the 1990s onwards. Compared to those, this one isn't extremely fruity but has a gentle maltiness and smooth mouthfeel.
Indeed, Pulteney is generally not prone to being overly delicate, and even after long aging, it rarely develops extreme estery aromas.
In similar styles, the power is left to the 1990s expressions, but this Pulteney offers a more mellow texture to enjoy.
I don't think either is objectively better, but in terms of value for money, it would be the 1990s one. (laughs)
