Glenesk GLENESK 1984-2015 30yo Cooper's Choice #3884 51% One of 300 bottles, Refill Butt
Bottle #グレネスク(GLENESK)
New release of the long-matured Glenesk - I would like to express my respect to those who filled it. Glenesk GLENESK 1984-2015 30yo Cooper's Choice #3884 51% One of 300 bottles, Refill Butt The aroma has a strong grainy character with husk-like notes, orange peel, intense roasted chestnuts, dried straw plantiness, oak, vanilla, and a sweet honeyed quality. When drinking, it has dried orange peel, savory grain notes, vanilla and honey-like sweetness with a roasted chestnut character, straw-like plantiness, and a subtle bitterness that deepens the flavor. The finish is long. [Good/Very Good] Recently released by Vintage Malt's Cooper's Choice series, this is a 30-year-old Glenesk from 1984. At first impression, the aroma wasn't particularly distinctive but carried a strange feeling. Carefully examining it reveals a unique grainy character with husk-like or hash-like qualities, along with straw-like plant notes and nuances of roasted chestnuts, making it quite individual. The flavor has a more orthodox impression compared to the aroma, with savory grain notes and a rich sweet quality. A touch of bitterness adds depth to the flavor. Glenesk is often seen as a minor, niche distillery with an official old version known for its ammonia-like unique aroma. To be honest, I don't recall ever drinking a new release of Glenesk, and long-matured versions seem non-existent. While it has distinctive character, it's certainly not following current trends. I must express my respect for Vintage Malt's courage in releasing this, allowing me to experience something precious.
