When tasted, it has grapefruit zest, a solid smoke, a balanced sweetness and acidity, with strong saltiness, some powdery texture, and umami with bite. 【Very Good】 This is the Laphroaig 1984, aged for 9 years from Cadenhead's Original Collection, a water-added series. This vintage of Laphroaig has been released several times by Cadenhead, and all have a strong cask character but are fruity and delicious. This 9-year-old Original Collection, due to the water addition, had a particularly pronounced citrus-like fruitiness. At the same time, it retained the chewy, concentrated umami that I expect from Laphroaig, with peat coming through slightly later but clearly present. The finish had a satisfying flavor reminiscent of salted fruit.
