GlenTurret GLENTURRET 1986-2017 30yo VINTAGE MALT WHISKY COOPER'S CHOICE #338 48.5% one of 300 bottles, Bourbon Cask
The aroma featured juicy orange, faint peach and plum jam, fruit cake with custard cream, and cinnamon.
Upon tasting, it had a gentle mouthfeel, sweet richness of orange marmalade, a gradual malty umami, well-balanced oakiness, and a deep lingering finish.
[Good/Very Good]
Recently released by Vintage Malt's Cooper's Choice, this is GlenTurret 1986 aged for 30 years.
As a bottler's 30-year-old release, it naturally exhibits aging character. The aroma revealed a diverse range of fruity notes centered around fresh citrus, blending with creaminess to evoke the image of fruit cake.
The nuances are somewhat similar to those found in releases from bottlers around 1977.
While the fruitiness of the aroma wasn't as prominent, it had a rich sweetness and deep oakiness likely from the bourbon cask, along with sufficient malty umami. The malt-derived umami and thickness felt stronger than the highly acclaimed 1977 series, creating a gap between aroma and flavor, but both were at high levels and I quite enjoyed them.
