When tasted, it is aromatic and complex with a powdery, concentrated texture that slightly tingles the tongue. Notes of Hachihaku with its skin, faint mango and passion fruit, a rich sweetness, luxurious oak, umami from fish stock broth, powerful peat with iodine, and a long finish. 【Very Good】 This Laphroaig 1988, aged for 22 years, was bottled as part of the 5th Anniversary bottling by Creative Whisky's Exclusive Malts series. Other commemorative bottles included Ben Nevis 1968 and Tomintoul 1966. This Laphroaig was quite talked about at the time of release, possessing a powerful peatiness while also having a distinct fruitiness that stood out. Even today, it still carries nuances of citrus pulp and tropical fruits, along with a unique concentrated umami that feels powdery, making it highly appealing. This sensation is often found in vintages up to around 1984, but experiencing it clearly in 1988 was very impressive at the time. Although this bottling was fresh and good when first released, it remained equally delicious this time as well.
