Strathisla 1989 13 Year Old Kingsbury #5240
Bottle #ストラスアイラ(STRATHISLA)
A good watered-down type with a pleasant malt that doesn't cling.
Strathisla STRATHISLA 1989-2002 13yo Kingsbury #5240 46% Barrel
The aroma is fresh and clean, with lemongrass, strong white flowers, young barley notes, grassy greens. Upon drinking, it starts with a gentle mouthfeel and gradually expands, slightly mellowed but fresh citrus and plant notes, the depth of barley flavor seeping in, a gentle sweetness, and a pleasant aftertaste. [Good/Very Good]
This Strathisla 1989, 13-year-old was bottled by Kingsbury in 2002 with water added. It doesn't seem to be a barrel that produces strong flavors, and while it lacks complexity, it has fresh citrus and floral nuances with a clean aroma. As expected for a short maturation, it is rich in barley notes; however, due to the water addition and bottle aging, it has a smooth texture that allows for an enjoyable drink from start to finish without any rough edges. Moreover, it is smooth without feeling flat after aging in the bottle.
This one was bottled between 1989-2002, but it's possible that these types of watered-down bottles are now at their drinking peak after more than 10 years since bottling.
