On the palate, it offers pineapple, orange, buttercream, rich sweetness, pleasant oak, nuts, and a long oily finish. [Good/Very Good] This new release from The Maltman is Fettercairn 1989, matured for 26 years. It exhibits a unique rich oily character with nuances of nuts and banana, along with good barley and oak notes, combining the classic Fettercairn style with a solid bourbon character. Unexpectedly, there was a hint of pineapple on the palate, but otherwise it met expectations, delivering the rich oily flavor imagined from the aroma, with a concentrated sweetness and well-balanced cask influence. Recent Fettercairn releases often strongly reflect their traditional house style, which I greatly appreciate.
