New Release: WARDHEAD 1989 24 Year Old WHISK-E THE MALT Ran Away With The Spoon
Bottle #グレンフィディック(GLENFIDDICH)
A wonderful Speyside malt, and a rare bottle to consider when thinking about the distillery.
WARDHEAD 1989-2014 24yo WHISK-E THE MALT Ran Away With The Spoon 51.9%
The aroma is elegant, with notes of orange, vanilla, black tea, good cereal notes, and a light honey.
When drinking, it starts with a soft mouthfeel that expands into rich sweetness of ripe oranges and marmalade, with a dessert-like vanilla and creaminess, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.
[Good/Very Good]
New release from WHISK-E, the WARDHEAD 1989, 24 year old, The Malt Ran Away With The Spoon.
This is a single malt that cannot be bottled by the bottler as it is a Glenfiddich cask, with one spoonful of Balvenie added.
In other words, it is almost 100% Glenfiddich.
It has a fragrant nose typical of Speyside malts, with good balance between fruits and cereal notes, and a diverse aroma.
When tasted, it has a more concentrated impression than expected from the nose, with a solid sweetness and nuances reminiscent of desserts made with cream.
Although it differs in aging period and alcohol content, compared to the official Glenfiddich impression, I felt it had more viscosity and a matured nuance of fruits.
In any case, it's a distillery where it's not easy to find bottler releases, and it was a straightforwardly good Speyside malt.
