Bottle #ロングモーン(LONGMORN)
It seems quite a lot was taken by the angels (probably referring to evaporation during aging), but the remaining portion proved to be quite delicious. Longmorn LONGMORN 1989 24yo THE SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY '7.104' 52.6% One of 200 bottles, 2nd fill Sherry Butt The aroma is rich with good sherry notes, pineapple, ripe apricot, butter Scotch, caramelized nuts, oil, and richness. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with some viscosity and chewy texture, featuring plum jam, caramelized nuts, intense sweetness, buttery oils, and grains. There's a slight tannic edge but overall it's rich with a long finish. [Good/Very Good] This is SMWS number 7, a new release of Longmorn 1989, 24-year-old whisky. (※SMWS distillery code list here) With a 24-year aging in sherry cask and only 200 bottles, it seems like quite a lot was lost to the angels (evaporation), but there's also a possibility of leakage due to cask damage. As it's a society release, I don't think they would share with others. The aroma has good sherry characteristics, with intense fruits like pineapple and ripe apricot, as well as rich sweet elements like butter Scotch and caramelized nuts. When tasted, it has some viscosity and concentration, with the same nuances as the aroma and a rich sweet flavor as expected. The slightly stronger tannic note might have slightly affected the drinking experience, but it also gave a dense and thick body. There was some slight tannic grip, but overall it's a rich bottle with concentrated fruits and sherry notes, as well as intense sweetness.
