Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1990-2008 BBR #2246 46%
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
It was fruity, typical of a Laphroaig refill cask. Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1990-2008 BBR #2246 46% The aroma is strong and elegant, with concentrated citrus, dry barley, a strong peat note of iodine. Upon drinking, it has a soft mouthfeel, concentrated grapefruit, a floury and chewy umami, a strong peat presence, the smoke is intense but lacks the charcoal-like bitterness. The balance of sweetness and acidity is refined, with a pleasant finish. 【Good/Very Good】 This is a bottle of Laphroaig 1990-2008 from BBR, diluted to 46%. It has a fragrant aroma with strong peat notes but also gives the impression of concentrated citrus and good barley. When drinking, it delivers as expected with a concentrated, floury texture of citrus, and the balance between sweetness and acidity is good. It lacks complexity but has a very pleasant drinking experience. Although not mentioned, it feels different from the first-fill bourbon casks typically used by official bottlers. It has a distinct fruitiness and peatiness that is often found in Laphroaig matured in refill casks, which I have written about frequently.
