The paper-like aroma was not strong and had an interesting fragrance. Auchentoshan AUCHENTOSHAN 1990-2017 26yo Celebration of the Cask for Scotch Malt Sales #4971 53.9% one of 225 bottles, Hogshead The nose had a unique grape-like quality with a malty character, orange, vanilla, and a dry, grainy, slightly bran-like quality. When drinking, the malty character was stronger than the aroma, with a faint paper-like quality, a gradual malty umami, dryness with no strong sweetness, some grainy bitterness but an umami-rich finish. [Good/Very Good, Interesting] This is a 26-year-old Auchentoshan bottled by Morrison & MacKay for Scotch Malt Sales. Recently, bottlers have selected Auchentoshan with a combination of paper-like and tropical fruit characteristics, which I personally do not prefer. However, the aroma was completely different from my expectations. The most impressive aspect was its unique aroma reminiscent of malt or grappa, yet it wasn't overly spirit-forward. It had a subtle sweetness and an oily texture that ended with a smooth finish, which was quite mysterious. Considering the aroma at the sample stage when Scotch Malt Sales selected it, this is very interesting indeed. #Auchentoshan (AUCHENTOSHAN)
