A well-balanced release with subtle oak nuances and no strong characteristics. Glen Garioch GLENGARIOCH 1990 23yo EXCLUSIVE MALTS #7954 55.6% one of 239 bottles The aroma features orange liqueur, apricot jam, coconut, vanilla, a good grain note. On the palate, it offers sweetness from orange and pineapple, apricot jam, a moderate graininess with umami, oak, and a pleasant aftertaste without any off-putting notes. [Good/Very Good] This is a relatively recent release of Glen Garioch 1990, aged for 23 years. While not overly complex, it has a rich fruitiness with deep notes of orange and apricot jam. The pineapple flavor also comes through in the taste. The well-balanced grain umami gives a favorable impression, and as a recent release, it is an excellent one without the typical new barrel oak nuances or accompanying roughness often found in newer releases. Recently, Glen Garioch has been producing quite a few high-quality expressions regardless of the bottler. Although it is a distillery that has produced many legendary bottles and may have its share of critics, I think it consistently delivers delicious whisky.
