[Good/Very Good] The Kanemara 1992, 16-year-old was bottled during the Whisky Live Tokyo event in 2009. Kanemara is a peated Irish malt whiskey made at the Cooley Distillery. The aroma has a rich fruity sensation like apricot jam, along with strong peat notes that include iodine and seafood dashi, giving an oily impression and a rich feeling. When you drink it, there is a powerful expansion with the expected rich fruits, seafood dashi, peat, and barley umami. The sweet, honey-like richness is also a good impression, making it so delicious that I was unsure whether to rate it as Very Good. It must have been a more robust peated malt when first bottled.
