Rosebank ROSEBANK 1992-2014 21yo OB LIMITED EDITION 55.3%
one of 4530 bottles
The aroma is strongly floral, with ripe citrus, green apple, slightly green banana and plant notes, vanilla cream, a refined barley character that is clearly present, ginger, gently plain oak, clear and clean. When drinking, it gradually spreads spicy notes, fresh floral tones, ripe green apple, vanilla, and a savory barley umami with some bite. The sweetness is not strong but has a pleasant acidity, offering a refined taste with clear contours and a transparent, beautiful finish. [Very Good]
Recently released, this is the official 21-year-old maturation of Rosebank 1992. From the first impression of a strongly floral aroma typical of Rosebank, fresh fruits like citrus and green apple are perceived, along with a very favorable refined barley character. These notes are fresh but not accompanied by any youthful immaturity.
There is a plain, pleasant oak character reminiscent of special Diageo releases, and the aroma feels very clear with a sense of transparency. When drinking, the spicy character typical of high proof spreads, and similarly fresh, refreshing fruits emerge. There is also a savory barley umami with a bite, the sweetness is not strong, and there's a good acidity, making for an extremely refined and beautiful taste.
It is a delicate, transparent whisky with clear contours in its flavor profile, ending with a feminine and beautiful malt.
Rosebank has recently been released by bottlers at very high prices, so it's surprising that an official release still exists. However, it's even more surprising that such a high-level malt with the distillery's character has emerged.
