Bodega Sherry European Oak Cask, one of 612 bottles
The aroma is extremely rich, with ripe apricot, mild chlorine or metallic notes, strong barley without harshness, nuts, good oak, and a powerful peat with iodine, oil. Upon drinking, it expands into a rich, sweet jam-like apricot flavor with deep barley umami and seafood broth notes. It has a concentrated, chewy texture, powerful peat with iodine, and a rich, long finish.
【Very Good】
This Lagavulin 1993 was bottled in 2009 as part of the Official Manager's Choice series. The year 1993 is known not only for Bowmore or Laphroaig but also for producing many delicious Lagavulin bottlings. As it's a Manager's Choice, expectations are naturally high. It is extremely rich, featuring Lagavulin's signature apricot jam and powerful peat with depth, a refined oak character, and a strong yet matured barley note. The taste is powerfully aromatic and full-bodied like an Islay cask strength, with a sweet, thick flavor, rich barley and seafood broth umami, and an exceptionally concentrated finish. Interestingly, this bottle was my second try. The first time was also very delicious with a rating of VG, but this time, although the rating remains unchanged, it's more refined and complex than before. Truly a Manager's Choice.
