Oban OBAN 1994-2013 18yo Douglas Laing for 40th Anniversary of Oban Lifeboat Station 49.7% The aroma has a gentle cask influence with transparency, featuring orange, apple, vanilla, rustic grain notes, and a slightly grassy, youthful plant-like character. On the palate, it has a gentle mouthfeel with refreshing orange, vanilla, subtle mint, plain yet solid grain notes, a clean sweetness, and some grassy bitterness, but overall it leaves a clean finish. [Good/Very Good] This is the Oban 1994, aged for 18 years, bottled by Douglas Laing in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Oban Lifeboat Station in 2013. It is a rare bottler's release from Oban, which typically does not have many non-standard bottles. Although the distillery is often seen as rustic and somewhat old-fashioned, with a strong plant-like character, this bottle perfectly embodied that image. As mentioned, it has a plain cask influence with no artificial flavoring, allowing for a thoroughly enjoyable rustic quality. #Oban (OBAN)
