Recent Release: Clynelish 1995 17 Year Old Cadenhead Sherry Cask
Bottle #クライヌリッシュ(CLYNELISH)
The rather heavy sherry character did not fully overshadow the house style.
Clynelish CLYNELISH 1995-2013 17yo CADENHEAD SHERRY CASK 58%
One of 540 bottles, Sherry Cask
The aroma is heavy with apricot jam, plum, caramel-flavored tea, cinnamon-spiced apple pie, a grassy note from the depths, burnt barley, slightly meaty. On the palate, it starts with a smooth mouthfeel and expands into a rich flavor, with viscosity, sweetness of apricot jam, slightly tannic astringency, a briny touch with seaweed caramel character, oily and long finish.
【Good/Very Good】
This Clynelish 1995, aged for 17 years in a sherry cask, was bottled by Cadenhead in 2013. While not dominant, the sherry character is strong, with sweet and heavy nuances of jam, caramel, and apple pie strongly present in the aroma. On the palate, it exhibits Clynelish's characteristic apricot jam and viscous texture, but the resinous quality feels slightly masked by the sherry influence. The sweetness of jam and caramel is pronounced, with a faint brininess and tannic dryness, creating a relatively deep flavor profile. Slightly rustic in character, I felt the aroma lacked some cohesion, suggesting it might be better enjoyed a bit later.
