New Release: Bennevis 1995 18 Year Old The Whisky Agency Old Times Diving
Bottle #ベンネヴィス(BENNEVIS)
A Bennevis with a strong tropical character but without the paperiness often associated with the distillery, and despite being a distillery I usually find challenging, it was straightforwardly good.
Bennevis BENNEVIS 1995-2013 18yo THE WHISKY AGENCY 'Old Times Diving' 51.8%
one of 242 bottles, REFILL HOGSHEAD
The aroma is floral with notes of vanilla, orange, pineapple, coconut, and oak. On the palate, it has a smooth mouthfeel with chemical undertones but strong tropical fruits like pineapple and vanilla. The texture is viscous, with a rich sweetness and an oily, long finish.
[Good/Very Good]
The latest release from The Whisky Agency's Old Times Diving series features Bennevis 1995, aged for 18 years. The nose is floral and fruity with good oak nuances. Upon tasting, it has a chemical edge but delivers strong tropical fruit flavors. The viscous and oily texture is complemented by a long, fruity finish. It shares many similarities with good Irish whiskies.
Bennevis often exhibits paperiness, and while it typically isn't my favorite for its tropical flavors, this bottling notably lacks that paperiness. It's a straightforwardly delicious Bennevis with tropical and oily characteristics.
