The aroma combines intense fruity notes of apricot jam and marmalade, alongside well-balanced elements reminiscent of sherry cask influence such as coffee and dried fruits. It also exhibits the characteristic Islay intensity of peat, seafood stock, and a skillfully nuanced barley character, making it extremely complex and rich. Upon tasting, the mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth for its alcohol content, expanding into an aromatic depth. It has a strong viscosity, with a jammy sweetness, concentrated citrus notes with a powdery texture, savory umami depth, and the distinctive Islay cask strength peat and body. Based on Lagavulin's classic flavor profile, this is an exceptionally complex, rich, matured whisky that retains its body, presenting a near-perfect finished product.
