I'm envious that they got a good cask. Arran Isle of Arran 1995-2016 20yo OB for La Maison du Whisky 60th ANNIVERSARY #211 50.4% One of 331 bottles, Sherry Hogshead The aroma features recent sherry notes without being off-putting, with ripe plums, maraschino cherries, concentrated black tea, a hint of barley, and lightly caramelized nuts. On the palate, it expands gradually with plums and American cherries, a rich sweetness balanced by astringency, moderate barley notes, caramelized nuts, and a well-balanced finish. [Good/Very Good] This official Arran 1995, 20-year-old bottling was released for La Maison du Whisky's 60th anniversary. While it has a sherry character typical of recent vintages, it's well-executed without being overwhelming. The fruitiness is rich and diverse, with notable nuances of concentrated black tea and caramelized nuts. The balance between sweetness and astringency is excellent. While I'm not typically a fan of this style of sherry influence, the well-balanced flavor profile made it enjoyable. 1995 was the founding year, making this the longest-matured bottle. As expected from La Maison, it shows aging depth without off-flavors, showcasing a refined cask. #Isle of Arran (ISLE OF ARRAN)
