Bennevis 1996 15 Year Old Official Bottling #1653
Bottle #ベンネヴィス(BENNEVIS)
I'm not a big fan of the distillery, but this was drinkable.
Bennevis BENNEVIS 1996-2012 15yo OB #1653 57.5%
one of 567 bottles, fresh sherry cask
The aroma is lavish but also feels heavy, with notes of ripe oranges, apricots, dried fruits, vanilla, cereal-like qualities with a paper-like texture, machine oil, and some grassy hints. On the palate, it starts smoothly with tropical fruits like pineapple, a rich sweetness of apricot jam, paper-like and astringent notes, finishing with an oily tropical aftertaste.

Official Bennevis 1996, 15-year-old matured in a sherry single cask.
The aroma is fairly lavish with diverse fruity notes, but also has some of the elements I often find challenging in Bennevis, such as a paper-like texture and machine oil, along with some grassy undertones.
When drinking, it's less stimulating for its alcohol content, adding tropical fruit nuances to the fruity notes sensed in the aroma. There's also a rich sweetness like apricot jam, providing substantial drinking satisfaction.
I did notice the paper-like texture and astringency, but the tropical flavor lingers long into the finish.
While it has some of the characteristics I find challenging in Bennevis, it's quite fruity, reminiscent of paper-textured Irish whiskeys or tropical Littlemill.
Although I'm generally not a fan of Bennevis, this one was quite drinkable among their range.
